Take A Stand: Take a Shower

Someone once said, "He who doesn't stand for something will fall for anything." There are some issues I take a strong stand about...when it comes to abortion...I stand up against it. I stand for life. When it comes to personal hygiene sometimes I stand; well I shower... and sometimes I lay...I do enjoy a leisurely bath. This week as I prepared for the show on water I was more than a little disturbed to say the least.

I can't always get away to the mountains for a little solitude, or go to the woods for the sounds of silence. Yet, I can always take a stand and take a shower or just go recumbent in the tub for a soothing soak. Now I find that this last bastion of escape has a shadow lurking there. Who would have suspected that chlorine would be vaporized and floating like a sinister toxic shadow in the quiet and safety of my bathroom. Now that I think of it...maybe you can remember a time too...when you were staying at a hotel...you know the kind I'm picturing. There it is...the hot tub and the whirlpool and yes, the swimming pool. Remember relaxing there...aahh...can't you just feel feel the hot water gently swirling around your body? Oh...Ohh, there' that caustic bleachy smell that eventually drives us from the water. The chlorine in the hotels hot tub is even at higher levels than our shower. Yet the home tub and shower is more dangerous, because most of us spend more time there.

Like me... you may go to the shower or tub for more than personal hygiene, you and I go to stand up or lay down for our sanity. A little time alone. Well I'm gonna make the shower safe again with one of those special shower filters. Excuse me...I;, gonna go take a stand.
