Turkeys Around the Table

It's my favorite time of year again. I love getting together with my family, having 2 extra days to spend with my children, sharing a special meal of thanksgiving. With all this in mind I can't believe what I am reading in the news. The FDA and the pharmaceutical industry must really think that you and I are turkeys. So ok...maybe you..ok me too... maybe we're going to stuff ourselves again this year over the holidays. Then Knoll Pharmaceutical might justify it as market timing to release a new drug called Meridia at Thanksgiving.. This new drug is being released despite warnings from its own panel of scientific advisers who called it too risky.

Following in the wake of destruction from Redux and fen-phen, I would think our health and safety would be just a little more highly regarded. But in their minds you and I are turkeys. They've convinced the farmers that those real thanksgiving gobblers need the estrogen steroid drugs to grow fat fast. The bird turkey is treated like it has a bird brain and given no choice. Those flocks aren't allowed the opportunity to just say no to drugs. In my opinion the same bureaucratic thinking is applied to we people. The FDA and pharmaceutical people reason that we are human turkeys and we really can't or don't want to make choices that produce health the old fashion way. Give a mindless bird drugs to make them fat...feed them to people who get fat...give mindless people drugs to decrease fat. Sounds like a pyramid scheme to me with fowl on the top and fowl on the bottom.

The drug marketers are willing to give us what they think we want rather than what we really need. It's time to send them a message. We don't need their stinking weight loss drugs. We have a mind and given knowledge, inspiration and a dedicated support team...we can and will produce healthy human bodies the old fashioned way. A way based on time honored principles that began in the Garden of Eden. Let's send a message to the FDA and pharmaceutical industry that the only turkeys sitting around the table this coming year are them. Just say no to their new drug Meridia.
