Feet First

Feet First

I want you to Picture the feet of a little baby. For most of us, especially parents, those cute little feet are bringing warm fuzzies to our heart. Remember The pattering sounds of those little feet heralding the independence from being bound to the earth by our bellies or motoring around on all fours. Remember those little shoes dangling from the rearview mirror of the 57 Chevy.

Carrying us through the innocence of toddlerhood those feet continue to serve us into the tumultuous teens. Having survived my own teens and now 2 teenagers of my own and working on a 3rd. A certain song from Sunday school echoes in my ears...Can you hear it?... be careful little feet where you go, be careful little feet where you go.The Father up above is looking down in love. So be careful little feet where you go.

On into adulthood, down the aisle of marriage, up and down the supermarket isles the feet carry on. Thru aerobics classes they take the impact whether it is high or low. From Walking the malls, sidewalks and treadmills for our health to pounding the pavement as a dedicated runner. Those feet absorb the shock of our bodies connection to the earth. For as Little respect and care given to them they serve us amazingly well.

When the knee pains show up and the hip or low back pain begins, we still forget about the feet. When those feet or our ankles finally cry out in painthen we think about taking them to the doctor. I wonder why the feet are mentioned 284 times in the Bible? They are a symbol of power, grace and beauty. Caring for and washing the feet is a recurrent theme in biblical days, the greatest act of humility is shown by Jesus when he the master, washes the feet of his disciples. It was said of King Asa that in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet. Our feet steady us and place us on holy ground. God's word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Like hinds feet they carry us to high places. Where are your feet carrying you these days? Where would you like to be going? Would you be more likely to arrive if you took care of your health and those 2 miracles at the end of your legs called feet?
